Time trial victory for Thürig
The Swiss Karin Thürig claimed victory in the 18,6 km long time trial of the international „Thüringen Rundfahrt“ 10 seconds ahead of her team mate Christiane Soeder (AUT). The third place took the German Judith Arndt while Priska Doppmann (SUI) was finishing on the fifth position. Thürig had an average speed during the race on the course around of Schmölln of over 42 km per hour.
That was for me the most important stage in this competition series“, said Karin Thürig after her success, „that was for me a kind of general rehearsal for Beijing. Now, I know that I am on the right way for it. “
The overall lead took with her third place today Judith Arndt. Before tomorrow the sixth and last stage is on the schedule of the competition series with three tough mountains, four Cervélo-Lifeforce Pro Cycling Team riders are among the top ten in the overall ranking.
