Nürnberger and Flexpoint break T-Mobile.

by William Meertens last modified 26-05-2007 18:58

Trixi Worrack wins the afternoon stage after Judith Arndt had won the morning stage.

Judith Arndt knew before the start of the day that this was going to be the day to watch out. She was the leader thanks to the win of her team in the team time trial. But she did not won one stage yet. Until this morning she won the what was on paper more dangerous stage of the two.

We knew it was going to be Nürnberger that was going to try something. They where the evening before exploring the stages by car.

The day was half won for Judith. Only two other teams where not thinking that the day was half lost. It still had to begin. Nürnberger duo Trixi Worrack and Claudia Hausler and Flexpoint duo Susanne Ljungskog and Amber Neben, last two years winner, where thinking otherwise. It was Amber who waited at Susanne after attacking first to help her teammate.

Only Nürnberger overrun Flexpoint. Trixi won the stage and ended 11 short on Susanne Ljungskog for the lead. Judith Arndt dropped at place 3, 55 seconds behind Ljungskog.

With only one stage to go everything is still playable considering a stage win gives you a 10 second boni. One could say Ljungskog has 1 second to defend. This leaves us now with the question if Trixi is going to loose the Tour again with only 1 second against the same team. Only then it was Amber Neben who won the final.
"It would have made fun for me, to show it to the young ladies once more."

—Jeannie Longo
