1er GP Charles von Roesgen in Ell
As we knew, it was difficult to get a large peloton for a ladies race in Luxembourg. Nevertheless 22 ladies aligned for the 75,5 km of the GP. Charles von Roesgen. The riders came from Belgium , Holland, Great Britain, Germany and Luxembourg.
During the first three laps a few attacks by Nöhles, Stumpf and Delfosse did not succed. The first decisive attack was during lap 4 when the pack was split. 7 riders stayed in the frontgroup. 6 riders were chasing behind but they couldn't get back. The decisive actions for the win began only in the last lap when Nöhles made another try. Delfosse didn't get away either. It was Rachel Heal, the actual british vice champion, who made a really impressive attack in the last uphill. She had imediately an advance of 100 meters and about 4 kilometers to go. There was no chance for the other 6 ladies to get back and Rachel reached the finish line with an advantage of 26 seconds. The sprint was won by another british girl. Catherine Hare was beating Claudia Stumpf of Team Nürnberger Versicherungen who started as one of the favorites. The Belgian Girls from Team Lotto Belisol Lien Beyen and Catherine Delfosse took the places 4 and 5.
