Mirjam Hauser-Senn from Team Specialized Designs for Women wins in Germany
The first decisive move of the German Cycle Classic, Köln – Schuld – Frechen, was made with 30 km to go in the race when a small break group of seven formed. Three riders from Specialized-were represented in the break: Mirjam Hauser-Senn, local rider Tanja Hennes and Larssyn Rüegg.
Later, Mirjam Hauser-Senn and Christina Becker, Equipe Nürnberger Versicherungen, broke free. With 1km to go in the race, Mirjam Hauser-Senn attacked Becker and won the race solo. Finishing in the first group was Tanja Hennes (Attendorn/D) in 5th place and Larssyn Rüegg (Zürich) in 7th position. Also classifying in the top ten was Karina Hegelund Nielsen.
Team Specialized received an honorary prize from Federal Chancellor, Dr. Angela Merkel, for winning the Best Team category.
